The Unlikely Pair

Hi Everyone!! My reading progress lately has skyrocketed up because of my free time now that Spring Show is over! I am back to the pace I was at the entire semester and I have even gotten ahead of that pace. I surpassed my goal of reading 75 books this semester and have currently read 76. I am so thrilled and ecstatic to have picked back up my reading pace! I also can not wait for the summer because I will have plenty of free time to read anything I want to. Without further ado, the book that I just finished, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck.
This book is the book I chose to read as my AP title. Steinbeck does a brilliant job combining friendship with dreams, ambition, and loneliness. The story is about an unlikely pair of male migrant workers trying to find a job. What makes them so unusual and unlikely is that one, migrant workers normally only care for themselves, and two, the men (George and Lennie) are complete opposites of each other. George is small and somewhat smart whereas…

The Failed Dating Game

Hey Y'all! My reading progress lately has taken a significant drop because of drill team. This week we are preparing to put on our Spring Show and I will not have any time for reading or any other homework I will need to complete. Last week was also a super busy week because of Spring Show. I can't wait to put on a magnificent show and get all of it over with. I will be overjoyed to start picking back up the pace I have kept this entire semester. I am currently reading, We Should Hang Out Sometime by Josh Sundquist. When the author was twenty-five years old he realized that he had never had a girlfriend, with one minor exception when he had a girlfriend for twenty-two hours or so in eighth grade. When he was younger he got cancer and lost one of his legs leaving him with a disability. He grew up to b…

Lights! Camera! Read!

Hey Y'all!
My name is Tatum Deatherage and I am currently a sophomore at Hebron High School. I am involved at school through Silver Wings, which is our drill team. I am highly interested into fashion design and photography which will be my major and minor once I get to college. I also love to dance and hope to improve my dancing skills enough to become a Kilgore College Rangerette. I love to read and most of that passion was inspired by my parents and my brother. My brother is currently a senior at Hebron and he is going to attend A&M and hopefully transfer to Rice to pursue a career in Biomedical Engineering. I enjoy many different genres such as: biographies, nonfiction, fiction, science fiction, dystopian, autobiographies, and romance. I am currently reading Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson, this book encourages high schoolers to speak up about who they are and what they believe in. It is supposed to show the struggles of a young teenager and her journey to speak up for what …
